?Coinbase User Lost $11.6 Million
As crypto enthusiasts and investors, it is our job to keep our crypto safe. There are times where we may let our guard down. That is what happened last April to a Coinbase user by the name of GR.
He had around $11.6 million stolen from his Coinbase account in less than 10 minutes! Let’s take a look at how this happened to prevent this from happening to any of us!
After purchasing 200 bitcoins, GR received a notification that alerted him his Coinbase account was locked.
To unlock his account, he called the number on the notification thinking he would get connected with Coinbase support.
Instead, GR was connected with someone else who had him make a series of changes to his account which included allowing remote access to the account.
Within minutes of making these changes, he had lost roughly 206 bitcoin. This investigation is still undergoing and we can only hope that GR is able to recover his funds.
What can we learn from this?
We should remember that pop-up notifications and phishing attempts are the easiest ways to get scammed. In order to remain vigilant, we must remain calm if we see a serious notification or warning pop up. Scammers try to catch us off guard and get us emotional.
Our Market Meditations are longer format educational segments. Each letter features a Market Meditation which will deep dive and analyse a relevant crypto event, theme or tool.
Be very cautious, the market will try to shake you out again and again. Expect a lot of volatility.
A more advanced trader might be scalping on and off.
For most people, holding and keeping $4k as an invalidation seems sensical.
Watching $60k, key psychological level we want to hold. Another key structural level at $58k that we would not want to slip below.
Market may try to shake people out of their BTC positions as well.
Particularly given we have the Federal Reserve meeting on Wednesday. Some investors believe tapering will negatively impact BTC. Cannot rule out some volatility over the next few days.

Decentraland’s token, MANA, soared to over $4 this weekend. Following Facebook’s rebranding of itself as “Meta”, the virtual world’s currency surpassed a $7.5 billion market cap briefly on Saturday, according to CoinMarketCap.
Decentraland is a decentralised 3D virtual reality platform built on the Ethereum network.
Managed and controlled by a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), Decentraland is governed by holders of its native tokens.
In the platform’s metaverse, you can do anything from build environments, marketplaces, and applications to purchase land, play and explore creations of other players.
Earlier this month, Paris Hilton and Deadmau5 partnered with Decentraland when she signed up to be one of the headline artists for the inaugural Metaverse Festival, which ran from Oct. 21 – 24.
But MANA wasn’t the only metaverse token to benefit from the social media giant’s publicity. The Facebook effect seems to have also impacted the price of The Sandbox (SAND) this weekend, as it put in a new all-time high on Saturday.
If you’d like to get a first-hand look at what’s going on in Decentraland’s metaverse, it’s completely free to explore.
